Veterinarian Technician Careers

Are you looking for a new career? Are you tired of staring at a computer screen while being tucked away in a small cubicle? For some, life in corporate America just isn't worth the dullness and inactivity that comprises a typical day. If you fit into this category, it's time to make a change. Do you like animals? If so, you may want to jump into a veterinary technician career.

Veterinary technician careers can be very rewarding. A veterinary technician assists veterinarians in their day to day tasks. They often help control animals while being treated, or they prepare medicine or diagnostic equipment for incoming patients. Depending on the size of the veterinary office, veterinary technicians may also deal with some customer paperwork and other clerical duties.

The training involved to become a veterinary technician is not nearly as extensive as it is for certified veterinarians. In some states, veterinary technicians can be trained on the job. Many vocational colleges and veterinary schools offer veterinary technician occupational or associate degrees. These degrees typically don't take more than two years to earn, and can take a lot less time if you've already fulfilled some basic course requirements.

Many veterinary technicians are people that love animals and want to be around them. These people often include mothers who only work part time at a veterinary clinic while their kids are at school. If a veterinary technician career sounds promising to you, check into programs at your nearest community college.
